SUMMARY
Robert Gookin is a trial attorney in the firm’s Pasadena office. Mr. Gookin’s practice primarily focuses on commercial litigation, high-stakes partnership disputes, real estate litigation, and construction law. As a second career attorney, Mr. Gookin takes a practical approach to litigation that balances zealous advocacy with an understanding and appreciation for the commercial realities faced by his clients.
Mr. Gookin has significant trial and appellate experience in both state and federal courts in California representing individuals and small business owners in a wide range of commercial disputes, including cases where there was potential white collar criminal liability. Between 2011 and 2017, Mr. Gookin was recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers, a distinction given to only 2.5% of attorneys in Southern California.
Mr. Gookin graduated from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 2007, cum laude and Order of the Coif. During law school, he was a member of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review and took Best Advocate Honors in the Scott Moot Court Mock Trial Competition. He is admitted to practice in all state courts in California, and the United States District Courts for the Central and Southern District of California.
Mr. Gookin graduated from Columbia College in the City of New York with a degree in Political Science and Sociology with honors. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Gookin was a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa, the Program Director for a successful wilderness-based dropout prevention program that worked with high school students in the South Bronx and Brooklyn, and a successful television writer and producer.
